Melvin was a short-tempered boy. One day, his father decided to teach him a lesson. He brought a bag full of nails and said to him, "Melvin, whenever you lose your temper, hammer one nail into
our fence." In the beginning, Melvin drove so many nails in the fence
that he couldn't count them all! But as time passed, Melvin learned to control his temper and didn't need to hammer any more nails. Father, now I don't lose my temper at all!" Melvin said one morning
Good! Now you can pull out all the nails, Father said. When Melvin saw the holes the nails left, he understood what his father meant.
He realized that words said in anger can hurt people. even if you apologize; just like the holes that remained in the fence after the nails are removed. From that day, Melvin tries not to lose his temper every now and then.
